What is the minimum duration for hiring a car ?

We hire out our cars for a minimum of 3 days while on self-drive. You can hire a car for 1 day while hiring it on chauffeur driven basis.

What documents do I need to have before hiring a car ?

You require to have original copies of your valid Driver’s licence, National ID / Passport and the following secondary documents; Official letter from your company, Business licence certificate, Valid entry VISA (proof of entry into the country), work permit, work ID, Utility bill or any other relevant document.

PAYMENT
How much does it cost to rent a car in Nairobi ?

Prices for car rental in Nairobi vary from car to car. We have saloon cars going for $30 per day, SUVs like Toyota Rav4 going for $60 per day and the 4x4s like the Prado going for $120 per day.

How can I pay for my booking?

We accept Visa, Amex, Mastercard, Apple Pay, PayPal, MPESA Payment and Cash payment or Bank Transfers.
Note, we will require a security deposit to be left for the vehicle. This is the amount (minimum: Excess) being paid by the hirer’s and it is 100% refundable. in the event, the vehicle is not damaged while in your possession.

REFUND
Can I get a refund If I return the car earlier than the scheduled date of return?

Yes. In the event you return a car before the rental period is over, we will refund.
Please NOTE: Half of the refund for the unused period will be deducted as the cancellation fee, and the balance will be refunded to you.

MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR BOOKING

Can I amend a confirmed booking?

Yes. For amending your booking dates feel free to contact us either via E-mail or call us at least 24 hours in advance so as to change the scheduled booking. Late amendments can be arranged on certain occasions.

Can I hire A car with a chauffeur ?

Yes you can, we offer chauffeur-driven services within the country. Simply contact us with the booking and we’ll provide you with a chauffeur who will pick you from your residence and travel with you. NOTE: An extra fee for the driver’s allowance is charged as extra along with the driver’s overnight accommodation.

How Can I Cancel my booking?

Yes, we accept cancellations. Prior communication is highly recommended. Please read through our terms and conditions.

CORPORATE CAR RENTAL
Do you offer car rental for corporates?

Yes, we do, in fact, 90% of our clientele are from corporate entities in Kenya. Some of the services we offer for corporates include Chauffeur driven car rental, VIP car rental services, Airport transfers, Shuttle buses transportation for delegates, Group travels and also enjoy long term car rental deals.

What are the benefits of corporate car rental ?

Some of the benefits of our corporate car rental include;

1) Payment Flexibility – You can pay for the car rental service flexible via various methods including; bank transfers, online payment modes, company cheques, and Telegraphic transfers among many more.

2) Invoice payments – You don’t have to pay in advance, we raise and invoice after your rental period.

3) Exclusive discounts on monthly rentals – Enjoy up to 30% off on certain vehicles once hired on a long-term monthly basis.

CROSS-BORDER
Can I cross the Kenyan border while hiring a car ?

Yes, we allow cross border travel to East African Community Countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan).
For cross-border travels, we provide the necessary documentation for crossing over the Kenyan border. Please contact us in advance to confirm the border-crossing requirements and charges.

FUEL
What is a fuel policy while renting a car?

Basically, if you pick up the car on Full-Tank, you return on a full tank. If you pick up while empty, you return likewise. The fuel policy will be specified in your car rental’s Terms and Conditions, detailed throughout the booking period.

What are age restrictions while hiring a car ?

The minimum age required for hiring a car with Metro Car Hire Services is 24 Years old. However, the basis of age restrictions is on the driving experience.
We allow a minimum 5 Years Driving Experience on the Kenyan roads since the date of your driver’s licence Expiry. For international travellers seeking to hire a car within the country, we require a 7-year driving experience in your home country.
Whereas possessing an International Driver’s licence, you require a 4-year driving experience.

EXTRAS
Can I hire a car with a baby seat?

Yes, we allow special conditions where you can hire a car with a baby seat. Our Baby seats apply to children less than 5 Years old. We charge an extra fee of Kes.500 or USD $5 or 4 Euros per day for each baby seat booster.

Can I visit the Kenyan game parks with a hired or rental car?

Yes, you can visit the game parks with rented cars. However, we strictly allow visits to certain game parks in the country due to the terrain. Please contact us in advance if you want to schedule a safari.

What is Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)?

It is an insurance limiting your liability to the excess amount in case of damage. Please read through it in booking Terms & Conditions at the back of your contract before you agree to hire a car. We will, however, brief you about this while hiring the car with us.

What happens in the event a car is lost ?

We advise you to read through it in your booking Terms & Conditions before you arrive at the rental desk.
Please note if the vehicle is stolen and you are found negligent, ie leaving the door unlocked, leaving the car keys irresponsibly, driving while under the influence (either alcohol or any mind-altering drug) or at a vulnerable location, you will be liable for the full cost of the vehicle.

Do I pay for towing in the event the car breaks down ?

In the event of any mechanical breakdown and the car requires to be towed, we do not charge you for the towing fee.
However, if you are liable for causing mechanical damage and the car needs to be towed, you are required to pay for the towing fees to our nearest garage.

What is an international driver’s licence and why do I need one?

The International Driving Licence (IDL) is a document that is acknowledged worldwide and identifies its holder as a licensed driver.
For international clients looking to drive and hire a car within Nairobi, we strongly recommend the IDL.
It is however not mandatory for our clients among the Commonwealth Nations.

Do I need both parts of my British licence to rent a car in Nairobi?

If you have the new photo ID licence you must take the paper part as well. If your licence is not written in Roman characters (e.g. Russian, Chinese, etc.), you will need to obtain an international driver’s permit before you travel from your country of residence.
