What is the minimum duration for hiring a car?
We hire our cars for a minimum of 4 days while on self-drive basis, and for chauffuer-driven basis, you can hire for a 1 day (10- hours) period minimum. For wedding services, the service period is between 0600hrs to 1800hrs. Afterwards an overtime is charged.

What are the required documents for hiring a car in Kenya?
We require the following documents: valid Driver’s licence, National ID / Passport or the following secondary documents; Official letter from your company, Business license, Valid ETA (proof of entry into the country), work permit, work ID, Utility bill.
How much does it cost to rent a car in Kenya ?
Prices for renting a vehicle vary with the type of vehicle, nature of your trip and the duration you wish to hire the car. For instance, at Metro car hire services, we extend discounts on Long-term car rentals.
Which modes of payments are accepted for my car rental booking ?
We accept Visa, Amex, Mastercard, Apple Pay, PayPal, Mobile money and Cash payment or Bank Transfers. Please note, all card payments attract a 3.5% surcharge on the total car rental fees.
Can I get a refund If I return the car earlier than the scheduled date of return?
Yes indeed, in the event you return a car before the rental period is over, we will refund the balance due. Please note, full refunds apply once the minimum rental period has been met. Get more info from our terms and conditions.
What is your car rental cancellation policy ?
Prior communication is highly recommended in the event you wish to cancel your booking. We give full refunds up to 3 weeks prior to your scheduled booking date. Get more info from our terms and conditions.
Can I cross the Kenyan border while hiring a car?
Not at the moment, we have partners who offer similar services across East Africa. This means you can hire a car from Nairobi and other major cities in East Africa, the only difference is you can’t cross the borders using the initially hired vehicle. We handover vehicles at the border.
What is a fuel policy while renting a car?
Here’s a summary of our fuel policy, when pick up the car on Full-Tank, you return on a full tank. If you pick up while empty, you return likewise.
Is there an age restrictions for hiring a car in Kenya?
The minimum age required for hiring a car with Metro Car Hire Services is 24 Years old. However, the basis of age restrictions is the driving experience.
We allow a minimum of 5 Years of Driving Experience on Kenyan roads from the date of your driver’s licence Expiry. For international travellers seeking to hire a car within the country, we require a 7-year driving experience in your home country.
Whereas possessing an International Driver’s license, you require a 4-year driving experience.
Can I hire a car with a baby seat?
Yes you can hire a car with a baby seat. Our Baby seats apply to children less than 7 Years old. We charge an extra fee of Kes.500 or USD $5 or 4 Euros per day for each baby seat or booster seat.
Can I visit the Kenyan game parks with a hired or rental car?
Only the Safari Landcruiser is allowed in to the game parks. Please contact us in advance if you want to schedule a safari.
What happens in the event a car is lost?
We advise you to read through it in your booking Terms & Conditions before you arrive at the rental desk.
Please note if the vehicle is stolen and you are found negligent, i.e leaving the door unlocked, leaving the car keys irresponsibly, driving while under the influence (either alcohol or any mind-altering drug) or at a vulnerable location, you will be liable for the full cost of the vehicle.
Do you offer car rental for corporates?
Yes, we do, in fact, 90% of our clientele are from corporate entities in Kenya. Some of the services we offer for corporates include Chauffeur driven car rental, VIP car rental services, Airport transfers, Shuttle bus transportation for delegates, Group travels and also enjoy long-term car rental deals.
What are the benefits of a corporate car rental?

What is Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)?
It is insurance limiting your liability to the excess amount in case of damage. Please read through it in the booking Terms & Conditions at the back of your contract before you agree to hire a car. We will, however, brief you about this while hiring the car with us.
